Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44- D, Chandigarh virtually to mark the 152th birth anniversary of our ‘Father of the Nation’ with great patriotic fervour.
To imbibe the true meaning of this day and follow the glorious trails of the noble soul towards peaceful and prosperous nation, a plethora of activities was organised by the different blocks of the school.
The students of Primary I Block participated in poem recitation, poster making and role play highlighting the significance of Dandi March and Satyagraha led by Gandhi ji.
Gandhi ji’s three monkeys represent ‘see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil.’ But the Primary II Block visualised the fourth monkey of Gandhi ji in a unique way spreading the message to take precautions against the deadly Corona- virus by maintaining social distance, wearing mask and using sanitizers frequently. The students truly drew the attention that Gandhi ji’s ideologies are still relevant in today’s society.
The students of Middle Block paid their tribute to the Mahatama through inspiring slogans, posters depicting the movement and freedom struggle started by him. Beautiful poems were also composed by the students of Class VIII.
The Secondary Block paid their homage to Mahatama Gandhi by making puppets on the Gandhian philosophies like Salt Satyagraha, Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. It was a great endeavour to inspire the people to follow the path of truth, ahimsa and patriotism.
The celebrations concluded with a cycle rally in which the children participated with zeal and enthusiasm spreading the message of peace, harmony and brotherhood.
Mr. Sanjay Sharma, member of the CCPCR visited the school to motivate the students on Gandhi Jayanti. He was impressed by the beautiful portrait of Gandhi ji which was made by the students with his principles engraved on it.
