The Green Consumer Day is observed to promote the awareness of eco-friendly products and to encourage their use. The day primarily focuses on promoting recycling and reusing. The students of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School celebrated the day under the Eco-Club urging the consumers of the world to go green and use and re-use products which are created by recycling and cause minimal harm and loss to the environment. Practicing what they preach, the Josephians participated in the Best out of Waste Activity, wherein they created amazing items out of waste material, be it a piece of decoration or utility.
The teachers shared with the students that how we as individuals can act as responsible consumers and citizens and learn to bring into practice the 5R’s. As responsible citizens we need to make a conscience effort and buy products which are recycled, reliable, repairable, refillable and reusable. Choosing to say no disposable products, choosing minimal packaged products, saying no to plastics and using paper and jute bags are some of the ways in which we can contribute towards a happy and sustainable environment.
The Principal congratulated the students for their ardent efforts in the direction and urged them to continue taking conscious measures in creating a Sustainable World for All. She shared with the students that standing together with solidarity and sacrificing needs for a bigger purpose to save Earth for the future generations should be our motto.
