It was yet another day of jubilation and accolades at St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh as the students bagged several winning positions in the various competitions at ‘The Chandigarh 2030 Climate Change Summit for School Students’. The event was an endeavour of the Girls India Project organized by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta at Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh.
TejesM. Raowon the Third Position in Junior Category in ‘The Inter-School Poster Making Competition’ based on the theme of ‘My Chandigarh in 2030’ while JasminderKaurbeggged the Overall Best Spearker’s Trophy in the Elocution Contest based on the topic ‘What I’ll do to Protect Environment’. AdyaTandon, Girls President at St. Joseph’s School got the First Position Trophy for being the Best Girl President under Climate Change Summit.
The theme of the various competitions was Sustainable Development Goals (SDG13):Climate Action. The event brought together 300 girls from across 50 prestigious schools of the tri-city. The students creatively put forth their thoughts envisioning this earth to be a beautiful place where we humans live in peaceful co-existence with all species of plants and animals. The competition was organized with an aim to help the young students of today understand the gravity of the current issues of climate change which are affecting the entire world and the need to implement effective ways to combat the climate related crisis.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla shared her joy with the students and congratulated them for their wonderful accomplishment. She motivated the students to continue shining and to work hard towards turning their vision of Sustainable Development Goals into a tangible reality.
