WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY AT ST. JOSEPH’S DAY
“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”- ALBERT EINSTEIN
ST. JOSEPH’S SEN. SEC. SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH marked ‘World Teachers’ Day to raise awareness about the role of teachers in imparting holistic education at all levels and to improve the quality of teachers across the world. Observed on the 5th of October every year, this day is also known as International Teachers’ Day. One and a half years into the COVID-19 crisis, World Teachers’ Day focused on the support teachers need to garner across all sections of society. This day was marked under the theme “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.” Teachers’ knowledge creates possibilities for a better future for their students. In the Secondary Block, students expressed gratitude to their Mentors through creative PowerPoint Presentations. These presentations depicted the students’ love, wishes and deep appreciation towards their gurus who during pandemics were well equipped with digital and pedagogical skills to teach remotely, online and through hybrid learning, whether in high- low or no tech environments.
In her address, the School Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers and also requested the teaching faculty to brace themselves and be ready to face the changing demands of the learners. She added that education aims to make good human beings with skill and expertise and enlightened human beings can be created by the wisdom, knowledge and prudence that only educators can provide.
