Josephites Volunteer for a Cleaner Tomorrow

 “When there is both inner and outer cleanliness, it approaches godliness” -Mahatma Gandhi

 The National Cleanliness Day is celebrated on 30th January in our country to commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It is a reminder for every Indian to fulfil their responsibility of keeping the surroundings neat and clean. St Joseph’s has always been devout towards generating awareness and bringing about a change in the mindsets of people regarding sanitation practices.Focusing on sanitation, hygiene and healthy food, a flurry of activites were organised for Josephites. Students of Primary-2 were taught the importance of the day by showing a video on cleanliness and making key chains with slogans related to it. The children wrote very inspiring slogans urging others to keep their schools, workplaces, streets, houses etc. neat and clean.

The Waste Warriors of Middle Block made blue and green dustbins and gifted them to their friends.Through this activity, they made an effort to create an awareness regarding the proper and judicious segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes and their proper disposal. The children also learnt the fact that a healthy and neat environment will lead to healthy mind and body also. They also pledged to spread Gandhi ji message of Swachh Bharat amongst their friends and family.

 The revered Principal, Ms Monica Chawla said ”Cleanliness is a must for living a civilized life. Teachers and students role is very important to create awareness on cleanliness. It is the need of the hour that all the people should actively participate to clean India to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi ji for the protection of the environment.
