Josephians’ clean sweep at SCERT State Level Exhibition.
St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School emerged winners in the SCERT Project on the Theme – Technology and Toys under the sub-theme – Interactive Software in the Secondary and Senior Secondary Category held at SCERT Chandigarh.
Two students of the Senior Secondary Block Gurminder Singh and Varesh Goyal worked on the project on the Voice Controlled Car which works on Voice Commands and Hand Gestures. The two boys represented the school at the State level after clearing the preliminary round, surpassing 75 schools from the Tricity. St. Joseph’s also made a mark by getting its 4/5 models shortlisted for the 2nd round which was the highest number in the city. On 25th March, SCERT Chandigarh hosted the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the SCERT- Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition, on the Theme- Technology and Toys, having various Sub-Themes divided into two categories of Elementary, and Secondary and Higher Secondary.
The Judges liked the innovative project and appreciated the implementation and algorithms used to integrate the software and hardware of the project taken up by the students of the school. The Chief Guest Sh. Surinder Singh Dahiya congratulated the team and the mentor teacher on their success and bestowed them with a Cash prize of Rs. 5100 and certificates.
The school principal, Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the team and their mentor teacher for their diligence and perseverance. She further added that participation in such exhibitions is very important as they are designed to inculcate the scientific temperament amongst children and to enable them to analyse their everyday experiences to understand the linkages between local and global environmental issues. Students thanked the school principal and management for providing them with such an opportunity to represent the school at the State Level and learn from other exhibitors as well.
