‘The Best Herbal Garden’ award for St Joseph’s for Second year in a row
St Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sec 44, Chandigarh bagged one of the prestigious ‘The Best Herbal Garden’ award second time in a row. The award is given each year to the school that best exemplifies the highest standards of horticultural practices and has shown a commitment to supporting and demonstrating the best gardening and environment sustainable practices integrated with academics.
In receiving the award, St Joseph’s was recognized for the best designed and most horticulturally outstanding display; garden that provides a message to protect environment, showcasing environment friendly gardening practices; a commitment to plant collections; hydroponics “A way forward’, and a pattern of encouraging home gardeners and students at all levels through innovative horticultural practices.
The award was received by the Principal Ms. Monica Chawla, along with the Eco Club team of the school. Keeping the all inclusive recognition policy of St Joseph’s to give due credit to all involved in a project , the enthusiastic and passionate gardener Mr. Jagdish was part of team to receive the award a gesture appreciated b one and all.
The Eco Club team at St Joseph’s not only works within school boundaries but has developed itself as a forum through which students can reach out to influence, engage their parents and neighbourhood communities to promote sound environmental behavior. It helps to empower students to explore environmental concepts and actions beyond the confines of a syllabus or curriculum. While everyone, everywhere, asserts the importance of ‘learning to live sustainably,’ through the teachings and work of the Eco club environment remains a peripheral issue in the formal schooling system.
The director, Mr. Rupinder Grewal, along with management members Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal applauded the efforts of the entire team and encouraged it to play the role of flag bearer for spreading message to save the environment.
