World Malaria Day
On the occasion of World Malaria Day, a Poster Making Activity was organised by the Primary-2 Block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh.
The activity laid special emphasis on the theme for this year: “Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives.” It aimed at providing greater awareness amongst the students regarding signs and symptoms of Malaria along with its prevention and control.
The students displayed their artistic skills through the exquisitely designed posters. The message to keep their surroundings clean by maintaining basic hygiene such as proper drainage and sanitation to avoid stagnant water to prevent breeding of mosquitoes echoed high through the colourful presentations of the students.
The school doctor Ms. Megha Sharma delivered a talk to the students briefing them about the menace of malaria- it’s causes and preventive measures to be taken to curb the spread of this deadly disease.
Speaking on the occasion, the school principal stated that, “ Malaria is preventable, what is required is community awareness and changing the living condition by maintaining health and hygiene in schools and to mobilize children to spread the message in the society.”
