“People ask,” How can a person abuse a child”I ask,”How can so many “good”people not do anything about it?”

Deeply aware of our social responsibilities we at St Joseph’s Sr. Sec School,Sector 44 D Chandigarh have joined hands with CACA (Children against Child Abuse) in a joint venture to sensitize masses for the protection of the child rights. Under this programme an Online session on the topic “Legal Sensitization on Pocso and JJ Act” for non teaching staff (Class four employees) was organized on 07th July,2022 to make them aware about the child safety.

The purpose of this session was to create awareness to prevent children from sexual abuse. Studies across the country have reported a staggering statistic, of every second child being the victim of some or the other form of sexual abuse. Child abuse is a serious problem that has lasting harmful effects on its victims.

The session played an instrumental role in sensitization of the non teaching staff about the types of abuse and what measures should be taken to prevent such issues.The laws for child protection were also shared with the staff. Around 30 participants joined this session and gave positive feedback.

The dedicated Management and the Principal Ms Monica Chawla who have been resiliently working to provide the safest environment for the nurturing and development of each child in the school said in their message that “Our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future those who abuse them tear at the fabric of our society and weaken our nation.”

Principal extended her heartfelt gratitude to CACA for providing us with the opportunity to collaborate with them for a noble cause which would foster a safer environment for each child to blossom and shine dauntlessly.
