 St. Joseph’s Celebrates Annual Cultural Eve EXPRESSIONS 2022

St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Cultural Event- ‘Expressions’ in the school premises- a much awaited event after the two long years of lockdown and virtual celebrations- testified by the enthusiasm that was palpable not only among the students but also the audience. All the participants in all their finery and glittery costumes were ready to set the stage on fire from the word GO.

 The Cultural Show commenced with the warm welcome ceremony of the eminent luminaries and  lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest for the evening,  Mr.Arulrajan IFS Member Secretary, CPCC Chandigarh and the Guest of Honour Mr. Surinder Kumar- Additional District & Sessions Judge of Haryana Cadre and now working as Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U T Chandigarh, as well as Director of the School Mr. Paramdeep Grewal, Mrs. Anupam Grewal and Principal Ms. Monica Chawla.

Then it was time for the stupendous ‘Ganesh Stuti’ – a classical dance performed by the students invoking the blessings of the Almighty Lord Ganesha-  the Lord of Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles,  followed by the ‘Jarabe Tapatio’- the  Mexican Hat Dance which is the national dance depicting a Mexican folk art that signifies the Mexican identity.

  Lined up next were the Rajasthan Folk Dances Ghoomar and Kaalbeliya, aptly termed as ‘Dance of the Desert’ which brought alive the vibrance of the wilderness to perfection.

 The striking steps Phillipines Buyogan ( bees) Dance gave an insight into the hardwork, teamwork and perseverance of the humble Bees locally known as Buyogs executed impeccably by the pupils.

The extremely evocative ‘Dance of Shakti’ held the audience captive with their mesmerizing portrayal of the All powerful Omnipotent Goddess Durga.

The Josephian Street Rockers regaled everybody with their superlative rendition in the Nukkad Natak’ Ab Bas- Aur Nahin’ that touched upon the relevant issues of today albeit with a somewhat humourous twist.

Luminous Costumes ‘Fireflies on Flight’, the rocking Western Dance had the audience, especially the younger lot tapping to the beats of the medley of popular English songs.

No programme could ever be complete without the effervescent folk dances of Punjab and the robust Luddi and the hearty Bhangra which lived up to everyone’s expectations and drew thunderous applause from everyone present.

What made the evening even more splendid were the specially designed  four separate PPTs that were interspersed with the items which apprised the onlookers with the Achievements of the School, the Academic laurels, the NCC NSS Scouts and Guides, the Novel Endeavours and the Environmental Endeavours initiated by the School .

In his speech, the Chief Guest, Mr Arulrajan waxed eloquent about the scintillating performances of the Josephians and the numerous thriving endeavours that the Josephian Family has threaded together to create such an exquisite rivière. Mr. Surinder Kumar said he was in awe of the confidence and panache with which the students performed and gave credit to the Staff at St. Joseph’s for putting up such a resplendent

Director Mr. Paramdeep Grewal felicitated the Guest with mementos specially handcrafted by the Josephians themselves. He stressed on the absolute necessity to cater to the children’s need to express themselves creatively, especially after being cooped up for almost two years during Covid.  He was elated to share his joy at the success of the event giving the entire credit to the Josephian Family which always comes together to achieve extraordinary feats.

Principal Ms. Monica Chawla was profuse in her appreciation for the unstinting efforts of the Coordinators and other Staff Members in making the Event such a grand success. She quoted Aristotle who said “Creativity is a gift of ” God and added that she was grateful to her dynamic & proactive team who left no stone unturned in bringing the students’s creativity to the fore.

 She also expressed her gratitude to the collaborated Govt school Principals Mrs. Asha Rani (GMSSS-44-B) & Mrs. Suman Jaiswal (GMHS-53) who were among the chief invitees.

Nothing is possible without parent’s support & God’s blessings.

Thanking all, it concluded with a determination to preserve & pursue this path of excellence for God & Country.
