The all important World Heritage day was marked by the students of the Secondary Block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44. This day, also known as International Day for Monuments and Sites, is observed every year on April 18th to raise awareness about the importance of protecting one’s cultural heritage and to celebrate the diversity of the world’s heritage. World Heritage Day provides an opportunity to safeguard and protect the illustrious History of one’s Heritage.
The students took part in a number of activities to celebrate the day. A quiz on Heritage was conducted in which students participated enthusiastically. To prepare for this quiz, participants did extensive research, which enabled them to learn numerous aspects of their culture. Creatively made posters were made on the Heritage of various states. Some posters had meaningful messages that read, “Preserve cultural Heritage, it defines the National identity of our country.” Another significant message stated, “Monuments and Heritage sites are the rich essence of diversity and reflection of our culture”. Students also made eye catching book marks on the theme of Heritage.
The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, urged students to value and respect the monuments of the country as they are a part of our rich civilization and speak volumes of a bygone era.
