“Waste does not exist in nature because ecosystems reuse everything that grows in a never ending cycle of efficiency and purpose.”
-Frans van Houten
Every great accomplishment begins with an idea that aims to inspire and bring about a revolution, a single step, a single effort. The Josephian family has always been committed towards creating a sustainable Earth for all and directs all its efforts towards the goal. Taking yet another step in the direction, the St. Joseph family coined and successfully implemented the Paper Bank Revolution, a brainchild of Principal, Monica Ma’am. The noble endeavour was successfully put into action by the ‘Green Saviour’ Eco Club at St. Joseph School.
The school implemented the programme to reiterate the importance of reuse and recycling of paper. The students were encouraged to make a contribution by depositing the blank pages of their used notebooks and registers of the session 2022-23 in the last week of February which have been used to make around hundred writing pads for school usage, round the year. The Josephites designed aesthetic and beautiful cover pages for their writing pads. The teachers shared with the students as how paper recycling saves a lot of energy and water which is required to create new paper from trees. It also reduces the felling of trees which are the lungs for the environment. Factual data was shared with the students to make them understand the gravity of the problem created by wasting paper.
The Paper Bank Revolution turned out to be a great success as children whole heartedly partook in the undertaking and made magnanimous contributions. The school recognized the efforts of the students and the ones who made the maximum contribution were befittingly rewarded. The entire Josephian fraternity pledged to make their contribution towards making the planet a better place to live and agreed unanimously that the Paper Bag Revolution, though small was yet a significant step in the direction.
The management members, Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal who are strong proponents of sustainable environment applauded the tremendous efforts of the students and congratulated them for their accomplished goal. The Principal, Monica Chawla opined that standing together with solidarity and sacrificing needs for a bigger purpose to save Earth for the future generations should always be our motto.
