“A good reader makes a good leader”

Going with this quote, the Kindergarten block of St Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sector 44 D Chandigarh organised an online Webinar for parents that highlighted the importance of story telling and book reading for the toddlers of Nursery as it’s the foundation age of learning and the seeds of reading sown at this stage, would make them a good reader in future.

The teachers informed the parents how to begin with i.e. first they should start with picture reading, then one word reading and likewise the pattern should be enhanced. They suggested the parents about good writers and story books and advised them to narrate different kinds of stories to their kids, with some moral and worldly wisdom like Shravan Kumar, Krishna- Sudama, animals stories etc.

They were advised to spend quality time with their children by reading and telling stories to them and also to encourage little ones to create their own stories in their own words and imagination as it broadens their knowledge, enriches vocabulary, improves thought process, imbibes moral values and increases critical thinking. At the end of the session, the queries of the parents related to their tiny tots were discussed and resolved by the coordinator and the teachers. It was an informative and enlightening webinar for the parents whose children have just stepped into the field of learning.
