St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh was felicitated as Josephians won not one but two prestigious awards at the regional level in WIPRO EARTHIAN AWARDS,2022 amongst numerous participating schools of UT. Wipro Earthian is one of India’s most prominent sustainability Education programmes for schools and colleges. Being felicitated with this prestigious award is a matter of great pride for any Institution. This program has evolved over the last decade to become the flagship for sustainability education in India. The annual awards recognize excellence in sustainability in schools and colleges of India.

It was a momentous occasion as Josephites secured the 1st position for project ‘Sustainability and Water’ under the mentorship of the teachers of the Science faculty, Ms Shivani and Ms G. Nithya. The Science Project ‘Sustainability and Biodiversity’ got the 2nd position mentored by Ms Aditi. The winning teams received certificates. Under the projects, the Josephites demonstrated their understanding of biodiversity, waste and water through a combination of activity-based learning programmes and writing of essays. Students expressed with great clarity some noteworthy scientific concepts.

The school management members and the Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, congratulated the winners and praised their efforts to promote sustainable development learning. The principal added that this programme helps stimulate curiosity and interest in young minds in critical areas of sustainability, thus offering out-of-the-box solutions to some real-world problems. She appreciated the innovative ideas of students and was hopeful that young minds would be able to face complex ecological challenges in much smarter ways in the years to come.
