St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School celebrated World Migratory Bird Day as a festival of birds for birds by bird-lovers. It was a two to three days event held in the second week of May to stress upon the need of saving and protecting migratory birds and their natural habitats by conducting events like bird house-making, pledge taking, movie show on birds, special assembly and decorating display boards. Students were motivated to work in this direction by showing a movie of six minutes based on the information related to migratory birds-Raman House also highlighted their creativity by preparing a board on the theme ‘Migratory Birds at Sukhna Lake.’ A special assembly was conducted on the same where ‘Nani Chirriya’ Project was touched and students were encouraged to keep water and grains for birds at rooftops in summer. The students were told about the importance of conserving migratory birds and how they as individuals can contribute to prepare bird houses and keep seeds to feed them. The aim of the celebration was to raise awareness for saving migratory birds who are critically endangered. All the activities were full of valuable information. The most noble gesture of the Josephians was collection and drying of various fruit seeds for dispersal and germination in the peripheral areas of the city, so that more natural Bird houses could be available in the coming years.
Each and every teacher as well as students from all blocks overwhelmingly participated and contributed towards this NATURE NURTURING.
