Debate is one of the academic activities that give students a creative room to express what they feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this is simply unparalleled. Keeping this perspective in view, the Inter Class Debate Competition was organized for the students of Class V by the Primary II Block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector- 44 D, Chandigarh.The participants were well prepared and undoubtedly convinced the audience of their beliefs and views on the topic, “Are we and our activities responsible for the climatic change?”The participants armed with valid information made their arguments more empathic with their righteous facial expressions, gestures and voice modulation.They debated vehemently in favour and against the motion. There were some brilliant speakers who livened up the debate. It was an erudite experience for all the participants and students who witnessed the debate.All the participants exhibited great oratorical skills making it difficult for the judges to decide upon the winners. The debaters were adjudged on the parameters like Presentation, Pronunciation, Content and Confidence. The competition ended with a nail biting finish.The principal, Ms. Monica Chawla appreciated the endeavours of the students and further exhorted that St. Joseph’s aims to promote education with a holistic approach to develop multifaceted individuals. Debate Competition is one such platform which aims to nurture the current generation of budding speakers and sculptors of words, to exhibit their views, ideas, thoughts and opinions for a better present and a brighter future. The winners are as follows : First Position – Annie (V-B) ,Dhairaya (V-D) , Adya (V-E) .Second Position – Arnav (V-A) , Riya (V-A), Vanya Bansal (V-D) .
