JOSEPHITES WORKING FOR ZERO HUNGER
“If you can’t feed a hundred people; then feed just one!”
In a bid to alleviate the sufferings of under privileged children who have been deprived of nutrition ever since the pandemic struck, the students of Class IV of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh have taken the initiative to come up collectively to achieve zero hunger.
It was a pleasant surprise to see how thought provoking posters and slogans conveyed strong messages to conserve food. Besides this students created PPT’s, addressing meaningfully how to create an environment of improved food security, nutrition and reducing hunger and malnutrition. Some of the solutions addressed by the students for Zero Hunger were to pack the leftover food in clean containers and deliver it to a family in need. Share your lunch with someone who is hungry. Contact local restaurants to have the left over but fresh food delivered to the ones who really need food.
The young students pledged to end hunger in their own possible way, proving that if we all join hands we can make the world a “Zero Hunger Zone.” The take aways were: feed the poor, start sharing food, share what you get, avoid food wastage, save food for the poor.
“If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger.”
Healthy eating habits in childhood promote good health throughout our life. Staying healthy isn’t a goal. It’s a way of living as the greatest wealth is health.
With this thought a Healthy Platter Competition was organized for the students of Class III. The menu was a blend of nutritious cuisines and a balanced diet. The highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness was also maintained.
The sumptuous and tastefully decorated platter served by the little chefs was really a treat to watch. No doubt that we all are facing difficulties because of pandemic but simple food if served the way shown by the students of Class III will be consumed by all.
Let’s build wellness rather than treating disease. Eat better not less was the take away message.
