 World Photography Day

“A picture is worth more than a thousand words; it is a means of personal expression and the appreciation of it, all at the same time.”
A photograph has the ability to capture feelings, ideas, experiences, moments in time, and immortalize them forever. And as it can convey these expressions faster, and occasionally more effectively than words, it has become one of the primary modes of communication in the digital world.
World Photography day is an annual worldwide celebration of the science, history, art and craft of photography. It traces its origins to 1837 when the first ever photographic process, the ‘Daguerreotype’ was developed by the Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce on January 9, 1839.
August 19 marks the day when the people who share a passion for photography come together to raise awareness and share ideas about the field of photography.
In line with our values to enable our students for exploring new creative pursuits ,a wide range of activities were conducted at St.Joseph’s Sr. Sec.School , Sector 44 D (Middle Block) to mark the World Photography Day.
The idea was to introduce the students to the various facets of photography.
Students of Class Vl and Vll were asked to express their ideas through posters and slogans. The young learners displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters depicting the difference between mobile and DSLR photography. Students participated in the competition with immense zeal and enthusiasm and made beautiful posters. It was a great opportunity to watch these young minds creating and displaying their ideas on paper.
“Every other artist begins with a blank canvas, a piece of paper… the photographer begins with the finished product.”
Students of Class Vlll , celebrated this day in their own way by making making creative videos on various innovative themes. The videos consisting photographs of animals, birds, mountains, plants and flowers etc. revealed their zeal and interest in the skill of photography. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity.
In addition, to this students attended a very interesting session about basic photography. They were taken through the different types of gadgets used by contemporary photographers. They were mesmerized to know about the difference between the mobile and DSLR photography. After the session students felt enlightened about various opportunities which are available in the field of photography.
The School Principal Ms Monica Chawla appreciated their endeavour and wished them bright future. She further said that in many ways, photography can also positively influence students’ mindsets and change their approach towards life.
